Fargo Marathon Charity Runners
FirstLink is in need of individuals, families, older adults, youths, small and large groups to join the FirstLink marathon team and run for a cause! Looking for runners to represent FirstLink during the marathon weekend! Marathon will be held on May 8th and 9th. Runners can sign up for the 5k, 10k, half marathon or marathon.
REACH Food Pantry Office Support
The REACH office in Hawley is in need of volunteers for Office support to assist clients with our Food Pantry on Mondays & Thursdays between 1pm-4pm. Any help with one or both of these days for any amount of time would be greatly appreciated.
Hospice Red River Valley is in need of individuals who are licensed hairstylists to cut patients hair. Volunteers are assigned as we get requests. Hours will be scheduled to accommodate patient and volunteer. This service will be done in a patient’s home.
Regional Office Assistant
The American Red Cross is seeking an individual to provide regional office support. This individual will greet office guests and respond to clients requests, manage regional phone lines, execute general office duties, and actively communicate with staff, volunteers and the public. Hours are flexible but designed to be carried out on a regular basis of 10+ hours/week.
Support Group Facilitator
Alzheimer’s Association is looking for an individual to facilitate an existing support group for those caring for a person with younger-onset Alzheimer’s. The person they care for is a loved one who is under 65 years of age and has dementia. The support group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:30-800pm at 2631 12th Ave S, Fargo.
Dress for Success Boutique Merchandiser
Dress for Success Red River Vally is in need of volunteers to assist with sorting clothing donations and organizing the Boutique. Flexible hours are available.
Roof Repair Volunteers
Rebuilding Together Fargo-Moorhead Area is in need of individuals, older adults, or small and large groups (2-12) to help with roof repairs to homes. These are elderly people, many are veterans and/or widows who live on a fixed income. They want to stay in their homes, but don’t have the money to fix the roof. We are looking for both a house captain who has expertise in this area and people willing to serve on a crew. You are also needed if you don’t have this skill set as there are needs regarding site cleanup.
Sheltering Churches Volunteers
The local shelters and churches need assistance to provide overflow shelter for people who are experiencing homelessness in our community. Volunteers are needed for setting up, greeting, overnight staffing, cleaning up and transportation of supplies and people. Jazzy & Mumbos a thrift store where the proceeds go to animal aid, is in need of individuals, families, or older adults to help open the store, run the cash register, and keep the store neat and clean. This would be a long term opportunity. Hours needed are from 9am-5pm. Flexible times and days are available.
Patient Care Volunteer
Hospice Red River Valley is in need of individuals to provide companionship, light housekeeping, friendly visiting, to reminisce, play cards, and share coffee with patients who are receiving hospice care. Times are flexible depending on patient needs and volunteer availability.
Meal Delivery Volunteers
Valley Senior Services is in need of volunteers to assist with Meals on Wheels Delivery in West Fargo. Volunteers deliver the meals to homebound elderly in our community. Meals are delivered for the noon meal Monday through Friday out of the West Fargo high-rise. It is about a one-hour time commitment each week.
*Youth Court Volunteer
Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is looking for mature, responsible people between the ages of 13 and 18 years old to serve in the Youth Court. Youth Court is an alternative to formal court proceedings for youth who have been charged with an offense or are showing concerning behavior. As a Youth Court volunteer you will participate as courtroom personnel in decisions that help your community. You will have the opportunity to learn about the court system, gain valuable experience that can be used on college applications, serve as a positive role model, meet new friends and help your peers repair the harm that they have caused. All volunteers must go through a 1 hour orientation prior to serving as a jury member on Youth Court and acquire 2 letters of recommendation from non-family members. Youth Court hearings are held every Thursday (year-round) from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the Lutheran Social Services Program Center (4720 7th Ave S, Suite B). We ask that volunteers commit to attending 2 times a month but we are able to be flexible with your schedule on which dates you are able to participate.
