Bulimia Nervosa is characterized by binge eating followed by purging. During a binge a person feels as if they cannot control eating and will purge the food by vomiting, exercising, or taking laxatives.

Compulsive Eating is impulsive or continuous eating.

Many people who develop eating disorders have irrational thoughts about their bodies

- they believe they are too fat, too short, too tall, and really want to be perfect. These thoughts make them obsess about their eating habits. Depression, loneliness, and family problems can also lead to eating disorders.
