When we talk about diversity, the hope is that we can begin to accept people who are different from ourselves. This includes accepting those of different ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, physical and mental abilities, religions, etc. Those people who are different from the mainstream are often excluded. Really, any two people who get together and talk are more similar than they are different - regardless of their backgrounds. By getting to know people whose backgrounds are different than yours, you can learn a lot about the world and yourself.
