Service-Learning

Service- Learning is a term that has become increasingly more popular in recent years. So what is service-learning and how can your students or agency become involved?

WHAT IS SERVICE-LEARNING:

Service-learning is a blend of academics and community service.
Through a service-learning project, students will help others in their community while enhancing their own education.

WHAT ARE THE KEY ELEMENTS?

1) Planning and preparation: The students, school, and organization must be a part of the planning process and
each opportunity should be prepared for the students role.

2) The service-learning project should meet the needs of the community. This opportunity should be valued by
   both the agency and student.

3) Reflection: A time for the student to reflect is related to their academic work.
